The Core Teachings of Jesus
The New Testament’s first four books called the Gospels or “good news” explain historical facts about the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus Christ. The four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are where the majority of Jesus’ teachings are found. We can read about his characteristics and about the times he taught principles to live by. Jesus earthly ministry was about three years long. He taught multitudes wherever he was and at times one on one with certain people. Jesus taught important lessons on almost all aspects of life. His teachings have survived more than two thousand years and are used as the basis of Christianity.
Among many teachings, Jesus said there are two great commandments in Mark 12:30-31. The greatest commandment is Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
