Parable of the Lost Sheep

Matthew 18

A follower asked Jesus, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of God?”

As part of His answer, Jesus gave the parable of the lost sheep.

“If a man had one hundred sheep and one wandered off, wouldn’t he leave his flock of 99 to search the mountains for the one who had been lost?

And when the shepherd finds the lost sheep, he is happier for the safety of that lost sheep who had been found than the rest of the 99.

Even though your Father is happy for the safe return of His sheep, He doesn’t want any of His little children to be lost.”
