“Follow Him”
After teaching them about prayer, Jesus proceeded with the topic of fasting.
“I want to tell you the same thing about fasting,” Christ said. “When you fast, don’t look dejected and tired just to show everyone around you that you’re hungry from fasting.”
Those who went around looking somber during their fast, hoping people would notice, received what they wanted — attention.
“When you fast, put some oil in your head and wash your face so others will not know you are fasting,” He instructed. “Though your peers may not know, your Father in heaven will know and He will reward you openly.”
The Savior spoke out of love and care for those willing to open their hearts and follow Him.
