Matthew 6 Christ saw His followers listening and taking everything in. All of his instructions were directed to all of his disciples, but especially for His newly called Twelve. He looked at His followers and began to speak about who we should always serve. “Man cannot serve two masters,” Jesus claimed. “He will either hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and the riches of the world.” The Savior’s purpose in instructing His disciples to only serve God was to keep them in line when receiving a little authority. He saw humility in the faces of those surrounding Him on the mount.
